# Getting cited in AI answers

Reviewed 17 October 2026. Canonical page: https://uxpro.ca/services/ai-search-geo

We make your pages easy for search engines and AI assistants to read, quote and link to, keep your facts consistent across the web, and log what the assistants actually say.

**Included in every site we build.** On a site we did not build: quoted in writing before we start. Monthly tuning from $650 CAD a month, plus HST.

## At a glance

- **Who it is for:** Businesses whose buyers ask ChatGPT, Perplexity or Google's AI features about them, or soon will.
- **What you get:** Answer-first pages, structured data that validates, an llms.txt file, consistent listings and a monthly question log.
- **First citation:** We will not put a date on it

## Where this work runs.

A client build that shipped with it, and this site, which serves the same files to assistants that we set up for clients.

- **Tokas Lex Law Office** (Client project, Law): Practice pages with a direct answer up top, structured data and an llms.txt file. Citation outcomes are not measured yet, so none are claimed. [Case study](https://uxpro.ca/work/tokas-lex-law-office)
- **This site's llms.txt** (Our own site): The plain-text file uxpro.ca serves to assistants: who we are, what we do, what we charge and what we do not do. [Open the file](https://uxpro.ca/llms.txt)

Every project is labelled before you see it: client, client work anonymised, studio concept or practice.

## What you get.

More people ask an assistant instead of scrolling a results page. Those answers get built from pages a machine can parse, so we structure your site to be one of them.

1. Answer-shaped pages: A direct answer in the first 60 words, one fact per paragraph, a table where numbers belong.
2. Structured data that validates: Service, FAQPage, LocalBusiness, Article and BreadcrumbList, generated from your own content.
3. An llms.txt file: A plain text summary of what you do, who you serve, what it costs and where to reach you.
4. Entity consistency: One spelling of your name, one phone number, one address, identical everywhere.
5. Server-rendered HTML: The facts are in the page source. An assistant that runs no JavaScript still reads them.
6. A monthly citation log: A fixed panel of buyer questions, run in the major assistants, recorded pass or fail.

You probably need this if:

- You asked ChatGPT about your own industry and a competitor came back. Or worse, an assistant described you using facts that are two years old.
- Your site renders in the browser, not on the server. If the facts arrive by JavaScript, plenty of crawlers never see them.
- Your phone number is written four different ways online. An assistant cannot resolve you to one business, so it quotes someone it can.

## What changes on the page, in the code, and in the log.

Being crawlable and clear comes first. Measurement is a log of what the assistants said, including the losses.

1. **Ask the assistants.** *Before the quote.* We put your buyers' questions to the major assistants and record what they say about you today. You receive: A baseline and a quote.
2. **Shape the pages.** *First.* A direct answer in each page's first paragraph, a key-facts table, a real FAQ, and structured data generated from that same content. You approve: The page changes, before they ship.
3. **Make the facts agree.** *Then.* Your name, services, areas and prices the same on your site, your Google Business Profile and your directory listings. You review: A list of every listing and what changed.
4. **Log what they say.** *Every month.* The same questions, asked again and recorded with the source each assistant cited. You receive: The log, with wins and losses.

## Included in a build, quoted on its own.

Every site we build ships with this work included. On a site we did not build, we quote one number before we start, then the monthly tuning and the citation panel run inside the Growth or Authority care plan.

Care plans:

- **Essentials**: $250 CAD a month, plus HST. Someone is watching the site you already paid for.
- **Growth**: $650 CAD a month, plus HST. Everything in Essentials, plus content that earns new searches.
- **Authority**: $1,200 CAD a month, plus HST. Everything in Growth, plus the pages and the monthly call.

| Fact | Value |
|---|---|
| What we change | Page structure, schema, llms.txt, listings |
| Schema emitted | Service, FAQPage, LocalBusiness, Article |
| Measurement | A fixed panel of buyer questions, run in the major assistants and logged |
| Time to first citation | We will not put a date on it |
| Included with a build | Yes, on every site we build |
| On a site we did not build | Fixed quote, agreed before any work starts |
| Ongoing tuning | Growth plan, from $650 CAD a month, plus HST |
| Guarantee | None. Nobody controls AI answers |
| What moves the quote | How many pages need restructuring into answer shape. Whether the site renders on the server today, or needs to. How many listings and directories carry the wrong facts. How many questions you want on the monthly panel. |
| Quoted separately, or not ours | A guaranteed citation. Nobody can sell you one. Paid placement in an assistant. It is not for sale. Review generation, which has to come from your clients. Ad spend of any kind. |
| Terms | Month-to-month. Cancel any time. No annual pricing exists. |

## Where we are not the right fit

- You want a guaranteed citation. Nobody controls which sources an assistant quotes.
- You are looking for a special file or markup that does the job on its own. None exists; the base is ordinary, clear, crawlable pages.

## Questions about AI answers.

### Does structured data make ChatGPT cite me?

Not on its own. Schema helps Google resolve who you are and can make a page eligible for some enhanced results, with no guarantee of any, and it costs almost nothing when it is generated from your own content. The bigger lever is page structure: a direct answer, a table and a real FAQ that a machine can lift cleanly.

### Do I need an llms.txt file?

It is cheap and harmless, and some assistants and agents do fetch it. Google has said it does not use it. We ship one because writing it forces a clear description of the site, not because it is a ranking factor.

### How long until I show up in an AI answer?

We will not put a date on it, honestly: it varies by assistant and by market. Recency matters most on Perplexity. Branded questions are answered mostly from third-party sites rather than your own, so reviews and listings move them as much as your pages do.

### How do you prove any of this happened?

With the log: a fixed panel of buyer questions, run in the major assistants and logged, recorded as a scoreboard with the URL cited and the competitors named. You get the file. When we lose, it says so.

### What does AI search work cost?

Every site we build includes it. On a site we did not build, start with the AI visibility check, $650 CAD per site, plus HST; the setup and monthly programme are priced on the search and AI visibility page. The monthly tuning and the question panel run inside the Growth care plan, from $650 CAD a month, plus HST, or Authority at $1,200. Month-to-month. Cancel any time. No annual pricing exists.

### Can you guarantee ChatGPT or Google will cite us?

No. Nobody controls which sources an assistant quotes. We make your pages easy to read and quote, keep your facts the same across your listings, and log what the assistants actually say. If a vendor guarantees a citation, ask them how they control it.

### Does this replace ordinary SEO?

No. Google says its AI features draw on the same index as search and need no special files or markup. Being crawlable, clear and well sourced is the base for both, which is why this work sits beside SEO and content rather than replacing it.

### What do you need from us to start?

Access to the site or its code, your Google Business Profile, and a short list of the questions buyers ask before they contact you. We turn that list into the panel of questions we check each month.
