# Grantham Electric (Concept) — What will my panel upgrade cost?

**Concept.** Concept — no client, nothing shipped, no metrics.

> No client commissioned it and no business has been measured against it. Any figure on this page is a projection, and its assumptions are printed with it.

Grantham Electric is a Kitchener electrician we invented to answer that question from one photo, within a day, before anyone books a visit.

## The question

*What will my panel upgrade cost?*

Homeowners ask three electricians for a price and hire whichever one answers first.

A photo of the open panel tells an electrician most of what a site visit would, so the website asks for that photo before it asks for anything else.

Every van and lawn sign carries a code that opens the job log for that street, so the service-area pages are dated records of real work rather than one paragraph with the city name swapped.

## Decisions

Three decisions, each as a strike, an insertion and a numbered reason.

- The photo comes before the form.
- Service-area pages are job logs.
- A published range, not “call for pricing”.

## What we did not do

- A chat window that asks for your name before it answers anything.
- Twelve service-area pages with the city name swapped.
- Stock photos of an electrician smiling at a panel.
- A free-estimate form with eleven fields and no price at the end.

## Why we made this

Nothing was shipped and nothing was measured.

Our studio is in Kitchener–Waterloo, and the trades websites we read here mostly lead with a form and a list of towns. The customer's question is a price, and the electrician's best evidence is the work they have already done nearby. We wanted to see what a site looks like when it answers with both. Nobody commissioned this; it is a position, drawn at the fidelity of a product.

## Validation

Nothing has been validated. Nobody has used it.

### The limits

- Grantham is invented. Nobody has used this site, and nothing on this page was measured.
- The photo reading and the price range are simulated in the prototype; nothing is uploaded or sent.
- Prices are illustrative bands. A real electrician would publish their own, reviewed against ESA permit fees.
- The screens are our renders of the prototype; the panel in the viewfinder is a drawing, not a photograph.
