A remote design studio for Canadian businesses and startups

Outside Ontario everything runs remotely, and it works well. Here is how time zones, sales tax and provincial rules change the arrangement, and what stays the same.

  1. Pacific6 a.m. to 2 p.m. Reviews in your morning.
  2. Mountain7 a.m. to 3 p.m. Reviews mid-morning.
  3. Central8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Almost a shared day.
  4. Atlantic10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Reviews in your afternoon.

Can UXPro work with us remotely from elsewhere in Canada?

Yes. UXPro is a design studio in Kitchener-Waterloo, Ontario, and we work remotely with businesses and startups across Canada on websites, product and app UX, brand identity, pitch decks and search visibility. Engagements run on video calls, a written brief and a prototype or staging link, with review times set around your time zone. Prices are published in Canadian dollars, and every project is one fixed quote.

No street address is published: the studio has none that matches a verified listing, and a local page should not invent one.

  1. Time zones, planned rather than suffered

Our hours are 9 to 5 Eastern. That is 6 to 2 in Vancouver, 7 to 3 in Calgary, 8 to 4 in Winnipeg and Regina, 10 to 6 in Halifax and 10:30 to 6:30 in St. John's. Western clients get morning reviews; Atlantic clients get afternoon ones. Written notes and a shared link carry the rest, so nobody waits for a call to approve something.

  2. Sales tax follows the rules, not the studio

Our published prices are in Canadian dollars plus HST, the Ontario figure. For clients in other provinces we charge GST or HST under the Canada Revenue Agency's place-of-supply rules, which for services generally follow the client's location. Provincial sales taxes such as BC PST or Quebec QST are separate regimes. Your quote states the tax line that applies.

  3. What Ontario knowledge does not travel

AODA, PHIPA and the Law Society of Ontario's marketing rules are Ontario law and Ontario regulation. A law firm in Alberta answers to its own law society, a clinic in British Columbia to that province's privacy law, and a Quebec business to the Charter of the French Language for its website. We design to the same WCAG standard everywhere, and we say plainly when a question belongs with your own counsel.

  4. And the United States

We also take on remote work for US companies, most often product, brand and deck work. Prices are quoted in Canadian dollars, and we do not offer advice on US accessibility or privacy law.

Measured, not claimed

What we measured outside Ontario

Nothing. The index is an Ontario study: all 187 sites are Ontario practices. We have no figure for British Columbia, Alberta, Quebec or anywhere else, so this page quotes none as if it were national.

  • Sites measured outside Ontario0 of 187.
  • Ontario baseline: served over HTTPS100% of 187 homepages.
  • Ontario baseline: median homepage weight2.3 MB on a simulated phone (n = 183).

If we measure another province, it will be its own edition with its own frame, published with the method.

The work, labelled

Work that fits this page, each piece labelled.

Remote work is mostly product, brand and deck work, so that is what is shown: two real engagements anonymised at the clients' request, and our own deck practice.

  • Study-habit app · product UXClient work, anonymised

A phone on a stone slab showing the Stride home screen, with a focus-streak banner and a Deep Work session card.

    Stride

A study app built around one obvious next session: three onboarding screens, a four-question intake that ends in a plan, study areas that hold a goal as easily as a course, and a component set on an eight-point grid.

Client work, anonymised at the client's request. No install or retention figures claimed.

  • Budget travel · identityClient work, anonymised

A city bus in golden yellow and dark cocoa carrying the Latitude lockup and the line Your map gets bigger.

    Latitude

One yellow, a mark with no small parts, and the applications a travel brand is actually read on — a van panel, the side of a bus, a transit poster, a roadside board. Each colour's job is stated, which is the part of a guide that gets used.

Client work, anonymised at the client's request. No traffic or booking figures claimed.

  • Pitch decks · studio practiceOur own practice

Funded: four distinct pitch deck identities for Zonely, Embergrid, Serein and Tandem.

    Funded — pitch deck practice

Four startup concepts, each with its own audience, message and visual identity.

Original studio studies for Zonely, Embergrid, Serein and Tandem. No real fundraising process or business outcome is represented.

Stride and Latitude are client work, anonymised at the clients' request: the names, marks and palettes shown are ours, and no install, traffic or booking figures are claimed. Funded is our own practice; no founder's deck is shown.

Questions

Remote questions: time zones, tax, AODA and US clients.

No. Our index is Ontario-only, 187 practice homepages, and we do not extrapolate it to the rest of Canada. If we measure another province, it will be published as its own edition with its own method.

We book them inside our 9 to 5 Eastern day at a time that suits yours: mornings for British Columbia and Alberta, afternoons for Atlantic Canada. Between calls, you review a shared prototype or staging link and leave written comments whenever suits you.

GST or HST, according to the Canada Revenue Agency's place-of-supply rules for services, which generally follow where the client is. The quote states the tax line before you sign. Provincial sales taxes such as PST and QST are separate regimes; your accountant can confirm how they apply to you.

No. The published tiers apply everywhere: Standard From $1,500 CAD + HST (typically two to three weeks), Growth From $3,500 CAD + HST (typically four to six weeks) and Premium From $7,500 CAD + HST (typically eight to twelve weeks). Care plans are $250, $650 and $1,200 a month. Prices are in Canadian dollars.

The AODA is an Ontario law. Other provinces have their own accessibility laws at different stages, and federally regulated organisations come under the Accessible Canada Act. We design to the same WCAG standard wherever you are, and leave the legal reading to your counsel.

Outside Ontario, usually not, and the projects do not suffer for it. Every step that would happen in a room happens on a video call with the prototype or staging link open on both screens.

The same as a local one. Website builds by tier: Standard, typically two to three weeks; Growth, typically four to six weeks; Premium, typically eight to twelve weeks. Brand, product and deck work is dated in the quote.

Yes, remotely, most often on product, brand and pitch-deck work. Prices are quoted in Canadian dollars, and US accessibility and privacy law is outside what we advise on.
